Rain making you depressed?
All this Atlanta gloom could be bringing you down
We’re not sure your boss would count it as a valid sick-day excuse, but the rainy day blues aren’t all in your head. Here in metro Atlanta we haven’t been dealing with snow and ice like so much of the country. But the non-stop rain dreariness is taking a toll, too.
We did some digging and according to researchers in Germany, the less sunlight people are exposed to, the more likely they are to be tired and have other depression-like symptoms.
At the extreme, some people have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a clinically diagnosed syndrome with severe depression during the fall and winter with remission during spring and summer.
The good news for those of us who just hate seeing the downpours every day? The sun will (supposedly) come out tomorrow.
