CDC shows the obesity epidemic in pictures
No doubt you’ve heard a lot about the U.S. obesity epidemic. If you’re tired of reading about it and just want to see it, check out the CDC’s obesity-over-time map, sped up for your viewing pleasure by Slate.
Not sure what you’re looking at? Here’s a clue. Blue is good. Anything in the orange and rust family is bad. The flashing map moves from 1985 to 2010. Georgia stays blue until 1999.
You’ll notice a lot of orangey-red in the South. Slate points out a study that says maybe it’s not because we’re so hefty here. Maybe it’s just because we’re a little more honest than the rest of the country when we’re reporting our weight.
